A proud and spiritual moment for the Indo-Canadian community! On August 3–4, 2025, a grand 51-foot-tall statue — the Lord Ram Idol Ontario — was officially unveiled at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Without the 7-foot pedestal and the planned umbrella (chattri), this idol now stands as the tallest Lord Ram statue in North America.
1. Made in India Assembled in Canada
This statue was first crafted in Delhi, India, and then shipped to Canada for final assembly. Skilled local artisans gave it its finishing touch. The idol is made using fibreglass and a solid steel frame, specially engineered to last for more than 100 years and withstand wind speeds of up to 200 km/h. A true combination of Indian craftsmanship and Canadian engineering!
2. 10,000+ Devotees Witness the Grand Inauguration
Over 10,000 devotees gathered for the grand unveiling event. The entire area turned into a festive zone — with a beautiful parade, vibrant flower showers, and non-stop chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echoing in the air. Several parts of Mississauga Road were also closed temporarily to manage the large crowd. The presence of top Canadian political leaders added to the event’s importance.
3. Inspired by Ram Mandir in Ayodhya
This historic project was deeply inspired by the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya held in January 2024. The Mississauga statue took almost four years to complete and was entirely funded by an Indo-Canadian business leader who wanted to share the glory of Lord Ram in Canada.
4. A Symbol of Peace, Culture & Harmony
Speaking at the event, Acharya Surinder Sharma Shastri, the founder of the centre, called this idol a “spiritual gift to Canada.” Event organiser Kushagr Sharma described it as a symbol of cultural unity, bringing people together regardless of borders.
5. Emotional Reactions Across Social Media
As soon as the statue was unveiled, social media was flooded with proud reactions. Messages like:
“From Ayodhya to Ontario, Jai Shri Ram echoes louder than borders”
and
“This is not just a statue, it’s a living symbol of peace and strength”
highlighted how deeply the event touched people’s hearts — both in Canada and India.
6. A Landmark You Can See from the Sky
The idol has been strategically placed in the flight path of Toronto Pearson International Airport. This means anyone landing in Toronto will get a clear aerial view of the statue — a proud spiritual welcome for travelers entering Canada.
Conclusion
This is more than just a 51-foot statue — it’s a bridge between Ayodhya and Ontario, a connection between cultures, faiths, and generations. It’s a symbol of what the Indo-Canadian community has built with love, unity, and devotion. A true beacon of Sanatan Dharma, now standing tall in the heart of Canada.
